IELTS Examiner talks about speaking Interview----I Time: It’s about 14 minutes: Section 1: 4-5 mins, Section 2: 3-4 mins, Section 3: 4-5 mins 1. Marking System: 1-9, you get 4 different score: Fluency, Vocabulary, Grammar, Pronunciation. There is very strict highly structured marking system. Ø; Fluency speed of speech --- not too fast as well as not too slow problems: repetition , hesitation, linking words Ø; Vocabulary How many words do I need to get 6 marks? It doesn’t matter. You only need know the word you need. That’s enough. More important, use appropriate words at right time &; right place. Ø; Grammar The examiner will be listening for the types of errors. Some of them is severe, some is not, which depends on what kind of errors. Ø; Pronunciation F-(1-9), V(1-9), G(1-9), P(2.4,6, 6= Examiner can understand every word you say 4= some things are difficult to understand (F+V+G+P)/4, .5↓ &; .5↑(writing) 2. What to do/not to do It is not a quiz! There are not right or wrong answers. The examiner is not interested in any of the information you give. You are probably the 300th person who says ‘I like spicy food, I don’t like sweet food.’ Try to be unique &; individual. Don’t always be positive. 3. Section 1 There are all simple questions in section 1. The topics and questions are familiar, so you don’t have to think. How many topics in part 1? 3 topics. How many different topics in part1? 10-12 1 of 2 compulsory 1 or 2; 2 from 8: 3-10 topics topics about: hometown, education, job, family, food, hobbies, weather, clothes,shopping films,friends,sports,TV, childhood, housework, holidays,freetime… each topic: 4-5 questions total: about 100 questions How can I prepare 100 questions Do not focus on topics/answers!
