We usually get scratchies

If its from out of state and we have a win (usually $5-$25)we give any winnings to the grandparents to take on their next around oz trip to use at a newsagency

Have never won more than the above on scratchie, but I feel good knowing I've increased someone else's chances of a big win ;)

I know this has been a topic previously raised a few years back now, but gifts from PM to landlord and landlord to tenant? I just dont see where the value is?

Christmas cards, e-cards etc sure but something that equates to money/cash? Mmm, not so sure.

For those that give them, what are they achieving or seeking to do in your eyes?

For us, we were thinking of giving our tenants a gift this year, purely because they have done a fair bit of work to our investment property for free which would have otherwise cost us several thousand dollars to get done. I think a few movie tickets is the least we can do :)

Christmas is a time for giving and sharing without expecting anything in return. Value can be personal and not $$$

My tenants have been great. All 3 have allowed depreciation people through, valuers for finance and worked with my builder on a few post build issues.

A couple of movie tickets each is me saying " thanks for looking after my places and I hope you continue to do so and stay for a long time". It really is a simple gesture that will probably brighten their day.

This is the first time I have received a present from a PM. And I feel it was sent in a similar sentiment - I help them make money and they appreciate that.

+1

I got a couple of key rings with a whistle from the drug store I use. They could have just sent a card or scratchie. I now have to think of how to re-gift it rather than chuck it. Might give it to my niece - she'll have hours of fun playing with the wrapping.

Will they accept this as payment for their services?

Anyone ever had a tenant get the landlord a Christmas Gift?

Thinking of gifting something to my PM, he has been dealing with nightmare tenants for some time on my behalf.

Ideas?

One of our tenants has made jam for us.

$100 from your PM? Don't most PM's look after over 100 properties? That's some serious outlay.
Or are you just special?:D

Well I think I'm special :)

They manage 3 of my properties and probably are buttering me up to manage 4,5,6 &7 when they are completed in 2013.

I just got a relative to pick up keys to our property while Property Manager did final inspection. Tenants left a thank you letter and big box of chocolates for us. Nice surprise. :)
