在澳大利亚 I am in Melbourne. Would like to buy properties interstate. How difficult is that to manage these properties. Any advise. 评论 Do you mean manage to find them or manage as in property manager? 评论 Manage to find a good property manager 评 Hi everyone, After months of searching for my first IP I believe finally have the corage to put in my first offer. I would love some feedback Property: Duplex Asking price: $239,000 I believe it is worth $225,000 to $230,000 My Offer: $218,0

A couple of years back Four Corners ran a story on Tweed Shire Council and how the (dirty) politics of development was tearing the region apart.

Well.....

'Tainted' Council Sacked

TWEED Shire Council has been sacked by the NSW Government after an inquiry found property developers had funded many councillors' election campaigns and used them as "puppets".

A scathing report by independent commissioner Maurice Daly found there had been significant electoral interference by Tweed Directions, a slush fund set up to elect pro-development candidates who purported to be independent.

The commissioner found up to $630,000 had been poured into the fund by developers and businesses, the biggest campaign fund spent on a regional election.

The final Daly report will also be referred to the state's Independent Commission Against Corruption for further investigation.

Consequently Tweed Shire Council will be directed by three administrators who will continue until Council's next ordinary elections to be held on 27 September 2008.

Dirty, dirty stuff (local politics in a boom area).

Hopefully the new Council will also clean up the prostitution problem in Tweed. I would have loved to live there in 96-98 but chose the Gold Coast instead and crossed the border when needing to do my licensing and other NSW State level stuff.

So this NSW government has sacked 8 councils in the 10 years its been in power.
When is someone going to make the Carr government accountable for its financial mismanagement ????
Quite ironic really.

Don't look too closely

I wonder how the Gold Coast City Council would stack up to a similar enquiry.

A year ago there was a list of the major contributors to council campaign funds published in the paper. The list read like a 'who's who' of Gold Coast property developers. Could just be the philanthropic nature of property developers of course.

HEY!!! It is in Darlinghurst (about 20 metres out of The Cross).

Luckily, I only have to work there. There are not that many lurking around during the day.

Salt Developer Killed

Brian Ray, the developer behind the $75 million Salt resort at Kingscliff was killed, along with his wife and the pilot when their light plane crashed in the Victorian snowfields last Friday, July 8.

Besides Salt, Brian Ray was associated with the Koala Beach development north of Pottsville and Fern Beach, near Ocean Shores.

His colourful past included an appearance at the Costigan royal commission in 1983 and a police raid in 1998.

More recently, Mr Ray's name surfaced into an inquiry into donations made to a group of pro-development candidates in the last Tweed Shire Council election. The Council has since been sacked.

He also recently made his debut in the BRW Rich 200.

Condolances to his family.
