澳洲Australia property Investing xenophobia remains | Sydney

在澳大利亚 I need some advice regarding a property purchase. Property - semi-detached house Bedrooms - 2 Condition - average needs internal reno to modernise Street - one of the best in suburb Location - excellent Close to schools - yes Transport - 50m The pool at of an IP needs to be resurfaced (or so the pool doctor says), the cost was estimated to be $10K ($10,000), after recoverying from my impresssion of a cat coughing up a fur ball, it just seems far too much. Its just a standard poo

It amazes me that after so many years of Australia relying on foreign investment the xenopohobes are getting louder and amazingly being heard!

Our esteemed Treasurer and PM referenced profits going off shore in their partial defence against the criticism of the resources super tax not affecting 'Australians. Its only foreigners money, so don't worry

As for property fear (repeat of 80's Japanese fear in purchasing the whole of Queensland fear), here's a FIRB report stating the exaggeration of the presence of non-residents purchasing property. Who would have thought.

The board's latest annual report shows that foreign investment in real estate was declining before the rules changed. Board approvals for purchases of established homes dropped from 3021 in the nine months to March 2008 to 2424 in the same time to March 2009, and the value of purchases slid from $2.56 billion to $2.46 billion.Click to expand...
