What/who would you recommend for Home&Contents insurance for IP? Looking at things like how hard they make it to claim, etc.
I am currently with Comminsure, but some of the PM's I've taked to keep telling me about some other independent company that gives cover for about $250/yr in Qld? I don't think it covers the building, just the loss of rent/damage (lost my brochures)?
If I am with comminsure and have opted for all of the additionals, will this be enough? Do you take out the 2 insurances?
You would usually need 2 insurance policies:
- Building (and contents)
- Landlord protection
Building and contents is to provide cover for your building damage and loss of contents such as fixed kitchen appliances, in the case of say fire.
Landlord protection will cover you for loss of rent, malicious damage, etc caused by tenants.
The only (personal) exception I've got to these two requirements is for a townhouse/unit where the building insurance is covered by the Body Corp. And usually the landlord protection can include contents cover.
