在澳大利亚 I need some advice regarding a property purchase. Property - semi-detached house Bedrooms - 2 Condition - average needs internal reno to modernise Street - one of the best in suburb Location - excellent Close to schools - yes Transport - 50m The pool at of an IP needs to be resurfaced (or so the pool doctor says), the cost was estimated to be $10K ($10,000), after recoverying from my impresssion of a cat coughing up a fur ball, it just seems far too much. Its just a standard poo


I am looking into building a 4x2 house as a rental property. I'd like to spend no more than $200k to arrive at a finished dwelling ready for tenants. There are a number of builders available in the area (Busselton), however i'd appreciate input from the forum if you have had experience in that area. So far i'm looking at Sumit, Redink Homes, Gemmel Homes, and Dale Alcock.

I built with Summit, aka New Generation homes in Perth 6 years ago, no way would I recommend them had nothing but issues.

I would choose Celebrations too. A relative just built with them in Ellenbrook, nice house!! Have heard good comments from people who have built with them in Perth.

Its a decision now between Celebration and Ventura. Pricing and spec is similar and they both have a decent presence in the SW.

All builders have the same issue that they are only as good as their supervisor at the time. I know some great builders that built some terrible homes and I also know some terrible builders that punched above their weight for a while.

If you're looking for specifics, best you ask each builder to provide 2 or 3 recent references. Ask questions such as time frames for construction and finishing quality. Any builder worth their salt and who wants to win your work should be able to provide you with that.

Don't go off 'service awards' or any other kind of industry recognition. Again, sometimes they're only relevant for the time period they were awarded and sometimes even then they aren't worth the paper they are printed on.
