Interesting article below about the looming skills crisis and the potential impact on economy in Australia.
I 100% agree with this article...the biggest threat to Australia is lack of skilled migrants.
There are lot of Australians who have the simplistic view that we should train our own ...but given the 4.9% unemployment rate anyone who want to work is likely to find employment quickly. Also, alot of the native born are unlikely to want to move to some of these locations.
I also think the government needs to simply immigration processes, tax processes, and skills recognition, at the moment it does not work. Perhaps getting the bureaucrats to move outcomes rather than ar$e covering and paper would help.
I dont believe that 4.9% is a real number, but given that the boom is in mining & resources then make it a condition that they stay in WA.
The biggest threat is lazy local bludgers.
Maybe they could bulldoze the HC in major capitals and rebuild next to the mines.
Notice how none of the comment is coming from executive management at actual resource companies.
All the bleating is coming from bwanking economists and other assorted vested interests who have the most to lose if new demand for housing doesn't emerge.
Funny about that....
