澳洲Australia property What's that noise? | Sydney

在澳大利亚 I need some advice regarding a property purchase. Property - semi-detached house Bedrooms - 2 Condition - average needs internal reno to modernise Street - one of the best in suburb Location - excellent Close to schools - yes Transport - 50m The pool at of an IP needs to be resurfaced (or so the pool doctor says), the cost was estimated to be $10K ($10,000), after recoverying from my impresssion of a cat coughing up a fur ball, it just seems far too much. Its just a standard poo

Here I was sitting in my office, minding my own business, (acutally using MYOB, to be exact) and I hear "Bash, Smack, Smash" comming from the bedroom. "OMG, what is he up to now"? was what I was thinking. I go to investigate and there is Hubby covered in dust, the bedroom and all things in it also in a sea of dust, the wardrobe doors open, so everything there also covered in dust, and the ensuite partly demolished.

OK, so we have lived here for about 2.5 years and have never used the shower in the ensuite because, well, it needed re-doing. We had partly started removing the tiles, but life got in the way and didn't really have the time to commit to finishing anything off. Having Lil leave home, meant that there was less demand for the bathroom, and hey, the toilet & vanity worked, so it really wasn't much of an issue.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's good that he's doing this. BUT........could he have told me first so that I could remove stuff that was going to get dusty and make sure the wardrobes were at least closed. I also wonder about how long we are now going to live with a totally gutted ensuite. All I have there now is a toilet (I don't think he's going to remove that, but can't be sure) and a bare room that now has no lining on it's walls at all.

He's been watching "The Block" hasn't he? :D

At least you still have at least ONE toilet. My hubby ripped out our ONLY toilet one Sunday night when I was eight months pregnant and told me rather earnestly, (thinking I would be pleased to hear it) that he would get the new one up and running NEXT WEEKEND!!!

Gee... THANKS!!!

No, he's been too busy at work for that.:

LOL! Yeah, I remember being 8-9 months pregnant with the first one and laying on my stomach in the dining area, sewing the carpet together with fishing line because we didn't have the money to put in new and had pieced this together from another source. He promised me that the kitchen (second hand from a friend) would be completed before the child was born. Most was done while I was in hospital.

When I saw the topic of this thread I thought it was gunna be about "Ghost Hunters", or "Ghost Lab", or Ghost Hunters International".

Anyone seen these shows? Unbelievable.

Unbelievable massive scam, with lots of "What was that?" "What the Hell?'" Did you hear that?" and other stuff, all muffled by well placed sound effects.

It's amazing how the ghosts can answer a "yes" or make a moan sound, but can't make any other conversation....

Good for a laugh.

No! No ghosts Bayview, just one very noisy, very messy Hubby. :D

is this the bash the man thread?

if you don't like it replace the loo yourself, or become a dyke.

How would becoming a dyke help things?

Or you could do what someone I know did. Her hubby kept promising her he'd have a kitchen "soon". Meanwhile, with two babies, she was washing up in a bucket. She did that for a few years until she flew with the kids to Hong Kong with a friend and called hubby and said "let me know when the kitchen is in".

He got that kitchen in within two weeks.

True story. Told to me by the woman herself. I love it.

Sheesh! Get a grip, Ed. Hardly man bashing! There are plenty of threads on here about the differences between the way the male of the species thinks and the way that a woman thinks. Methinks you're a little hypersensitive there.

Oh, and you obviously didn't read it all, because the loo isn't being replaced at all. It's the shower!

This is one reason why i'm glad both hubby and I are renovation-challenged.

When we need something done, we just have to wait til we have the money to do it, and then we pay for it to get done.
When we were first married, we used to do more ourselves. It never worked out that well.......... and it was usually me that suddenly decided on a Saturday morning that something needed to be done TODAY.
and I used my parents work method... start early in the morning and work yourself into the ground until its done. My husband on the other hand used his family's method... have breakfast, another little rest, do a bit of work, have a bit of a rest, have a bit more rest etc. It was not good for our marraige!! :D
so, now, we pay....... but it usually results in a far more harmony along the way!

Dykes don't always know how to replace a toilet either. When our "dyke" couple were doing a rent to own, they attempted a lot of "manly" things, and got them ALL wrong. After they left, we had to repair everything.
