Property - semi-detached house Bedrooms - 2 Condition - average needs internal reno to modernise Street - one of the best in suburb Location - excellent Close to schools - yes Transport - 50m The pool at of an IP needs to be resurfaced (or so the pool doctor says), the cost was estimated to be $10K ($10,000), after recoverying from my impresssion of a cat coughing up a fur ball, it just seems far too much. Interested in everyones thoughts on which is the best investment option?
Understand that there is pros and cons for either, but if we took for example a 2 bedroom unit and a 2 bedroom apartment at the same price with the same rental return which would you buy?
Depends on what features each had really. If the apartment had nice views and was in a better location I would probably buy that, but if it were very similar to the unit I would buy the unit as it offers more privacy and some actual land as opposed to just common areas, also the strata fees with apartments could be really high if there are elevators or pools/gyms involved.
Depends on your market. High rise apartments attract a completely different clientele - the buildings with lifts, swimming pool/gym will always attract the premium end of the market. If I had to choose one I would never buy a low-rise apartment because that's not what rich people do.
