澳洲Australia property Who are your insurance with in QLD | Sydn

在澳大利亚 I need some advice regarding a property purchase. Property - semi-detached house Bedrooms - 2 Condition - average needs internal reno to modernise Street - one of the best in suburb Location - excellent Close to schools - yes Transport - 50m The pool at of an IP needs to be resurfaced (or so the pool doctor says), the cost was estimated to be $10K ($10,000), after recoverying from my impresssion of a cat coughing up a fur ball, it just seems far too much. Its just a standard poo

well, my insurance renewal with suncorp just came up $900

looking for ways to lower this by shopping around. For those in QLD who are you insuring with and what are your premiums like.

Lowering is one thing payouts if things go pear shaped are another.

How much did the insurance go up? I will be in the same boat, I bet just with another insurance Co as they will want to recover some $$$.

I will be looking around soon, mine is a little over $600 for property/contents and landlord cover.

Have not had to claim so have NO idea if good or bad in the payout stakes.

Good luck with the hunt.

has been going up every year. When I first started out 4 years ago insurance was about $400. now it has more than doubled. Have never made a claim. House is stock standard in a non flood zone in brisbane. no added extras. Your $600 sounds really good to me. Who is it with if you don't mind me asking.

my gripe is that in the past I know what i have paid and it has been quite low as I mentioned above. however, if all insurance companies are asking for roughly this much then i guess I have to take it. Thats why this post, just to see if I am paying too much or not.

Just be sure to compare what is covered, excesses, exclusions etc. rather than just the price - as many found out after the recent floods.

I have a large excess, from memory about $2,000, this knocks it down a couple of hundred. I consider house insurance as whole loss coverage only in case of catastrophy and anything smaller than my excess I cover myself. Hasn't happened yet (touch wood)

Better than paying large payments and never claiming ever.

I am considering putting it up further to possibly $4,000

With suncorp

I pay about $600 for combined landlord and buidling insurance with NRMA. I had it reduced from about $670 because I switched my car insurance over to them. Excess for landlord and building is $500. Of the people I know who have NRMA, all appear to be happy with their service. I saved $50 on car insurance by switching from RACQ to NRMA.

Hard to beat NRMA's prices!!

What does $900 cover?

had a look at NRMA but got put off coz it doesn't cover for flood.

I think I'll try Suncorp again but increase my excess. See how much I can get my premiums down to.

Is your property in a flood/overflow area? Do you need flood cover in your policy?

Im curently with AAMI, paying $640 for building insurance only.

properties are not in flood zone / overlay. Flood cover comes standard with suncorp. Thats the thing that bugs me. I have not taken any extras. Its just standard house insurance without contents or motor burnout. Insured for house value of $300k. And it's bloody $900 when 4 yrs ago it was less than half this. And it now looks like from your replies there are several insurance companies offering around the $600 mark. Will look into AAMI

I have found sometimes that when you do your policy on line you get a cheaper quote then when you speak to a consultant

If your property did not flood in January, there is no need to cover for flood. None of my properties are in flood prone areas,
