澳洲Australia property IP electricity termination fee | Sydney


在澳大利亚 The pool at of an IP needs to be resurfaced (or so the pool doctor says), the cost was estimated to be $10K ($10,000), after recoverying from my impresssion of a cat coughing up a fur ball, it just seems far too much. Its just a standard poo I need some advice regarding a property purchase. Property - semi-detached house Bedrooms - 2 Condition - average needs internal reno to modernise Street - one of the best in suburb Location - excellent Close to schools - yes Transport - 50m


While I was living in my old property, I switched electricity supplier from Energy Australia to AGL. I got a bigger discount but was signed on contract for 2 years if I recall correctly.

Less than 2 years later I turned it into an IP and I assume the tenant pays their own electricity now. It seems this has resulted in my final electricity bill for that property getting slapped with an Early Termination Fee of ~$70.

Is this normal? If it is, is it a deductible IP expense?

Moved from North Sydney to North Willoughby - about 3 suburbs north?

I used AGL's online tools to change address so I should be continuing AGL electricity at my new place... will call them first thing Monday

When you change suppliers they often have a minimum sign up period. I'd say that's the case with yours.

Sounds like my case, however I thought that the minimum sign-up period applied to me, and not the old property? (technically though the old contract was for the old property)

Update: fee waived :) Minimum sign-up period applies to the customer not the property
