澳洲Australia property House that someone committed suicide in |

在澳大利亚 I need some advice regarding a property purchase. Property - semi-detached house Bedrooms - 2 Condition - average needs internal reno to modernise Street - one of the best in suburb Location - excellent Close to schools - yes Transport - 50m The pool at of an IP needs to be resurfaced (or so the pool doctor says), the cost was estimated to be $10K ($10,000), after recoverying from my impresssion of a cat coughing up a fur ball, it just seems far too much. Its just a standard poo

I have a friend looking for property at the moment and he is looking at one where the owner died in the apartment by committing suicide.

He is looking to live in the place.

I don't beleive in ghosts but it would still be creapy to sleep in the same room that a person had recently died in.

What do you think?

it makes no sense but I agree, when you flick those lights out and lie down in bed at night... creepy.

Sleep in another room until the stigma where's off

I'd get the place blessed by a priest or whatever if you are that freaked out.

We had something (spirit/ghost whatever) in our old place we lived in. Very benign, just floorboards that would creak and a display cabinet light that would come on by itself. We never felt threatened or spooked by it.

Weird thing was, we told it to stay in the house when we moved out.

Felt kind of weird and sad at the same time.

If your friend is superstitious or spiritualist at all, I'd say it could cause a serious problem. If your friend is a hard-nosed materialist, no worries.

We've been spoilt as a new country, I think. Take old European and Asian cities. With such rich and gruesome histories, the citizens would go mental if they fixated too much on 'vibes'.

Yes, the suicide happened recently, so it's a bit too fresh for some.

If your friend is superstitious and believes in ghosts, energies or whatnot, then maybe he shouldn't buy.

As a hard-nosed materialist, I wouldn't be fazed in the least.

People die in houses all the time. Old people die in their beds or on the lounge watching TV. Some people slip in the bathroom and hit their heads. Others fall or a pushed off balconies. If no-one wanted to buy and live in these properties, we'd sure have a lot of vacant housing stock ......

It wouldn't bother me at all. The only case where I'd possibly have 2nd thoughts is where someone is gunned down by a hitman at a house. And I would not be concerned about the death as much as I would be about the hitman coming back and having a case of mistaken identity....me!

You will definately not have the asian buyer interests if you want to sell in the future, lol.

I'm with you Terry.

I don't beleive in the supernatural, etc but it would certainly creep me out. It's not something I'd want on the back of my mind.

Cheers

I'd only be concerned if I had suicidal tendencies! :D

It would only bother you if you know about it.

I know of a house where the same thing happened, the family sold it without saying anything and the new family said they can feel the "love" of the last family in it. This is true., they were a very happy family until he became mentally unwell.

Let's face it, the person was sick at the time and how many houses have had sick people in them?

My husband died in my arms in my house but it didn't stop me from continuing living here. In fact it makes it better as I can walk around the house and remember him in each of the rooms

I think I could live in a place where something like that happened but I wouldnt want to know exactly where it was.

I would hate to think 'i might have a bath' and feel myself sitting in the same position as someone died or know that when I am sitting on the floor in the lounge is where someone laid for 3 weeks before someone found their body.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss :)

I did this, moved into the very room where someone died....suicide...never an issue.....never told my spook ridden asian gf and she never freaked out unusually any night either.....but might explain the scratch marks on me.

I do believe in ghoulies etc but it wouldn't stop me from grabbing a bargain. Actually I bought a double bed from the woman who lived next door to Dad. Her husband had had a heart attack and died in it. She sold everything off and returned to NZ. I got a bed only 1 month old for $50.00.

If you bought a place off and old dear, how would you know if her partner slipped away peacefully?

For me there is a HUGE difference in sleeping in a room where an elderly owner passed away peacefully (which was the case with our first house after being married) and living in a house where someone committed suicide or a murder had been committed.

I think it's totally up to the individual and how they feel about it.

True for how one enters a haunted house, but possibly not for how one leaves!

But I'd still use it as a bargaining chip :)
