The owner before me in my current place had done the painting, and its not to bad, accept she didnt bother with masking tape or anything, no doubt a diy program inspiration.
Has anyone used a good multi purpose paint remover? The typical areas are around the window frames, light switch plates, shower trimming etc.

Try a razor blade for around the windows. Haven't tried it on the other things though.

Would like to Queen Bee, but they are shelled panes, I could have replaced them, but they actually suit the place (post war bayside cottage).

I have used paint remover to remove varnish.
The general rule of thumb is walk straight past all the tree hugging enviromentally freindly paint removers, as they dont seem to work very well ( I ended up with a sticky jelly substance that is hard to remove), and go for the most toxic, carsnigenic, fastest acting paint remover you can find, as they really work.
I found the selleys fast acting paint remover (15 mins) pretty good.
Although for what you want to do I would say paint remover is probably a bit to harsh, I would go the stanley knife as mentioned above, coupled with a paint scraper, scourer, and light sand paper.

While painting the kitchen in my unit I totally neglected to protect the sink area and the result was paint splashes, drops etc which totally covered the sink and drainage areas. I found that using wet and dry sand paper with water really cleaned it up well and braught it back to shiny new. for larger drops a blade peeled them off with no problem.

If it is drops of water based paint try mentholated sprits or tea tree oil. Steel wool can help as well
