网报道，援引stuff消息，奥克兰居民或将因新的道路交通计划，面临更高的油价，养路费，和GST。此前发布的一项草案中，为了应对人口不断增长和城市拥堵问题，奥克兰拟将在未来的三十年里耗资两百二十亿纽币实行道路交通计划。其中包括，道路升级，扩展城际列车计划等。为了弥补主要的道路交通计划存在的一百亿到一百五十亿的资金短缺，市长Len Brown发布了13项建议；将通过讨论从中选取进行实施。
总理约翰·基将这些交通计划形容为一个“购物单”，并表示消费者无法承担。
其它的提议包括更高的停车费，更高的个人所得税，增加地区燃油税和机场离境税。
奥克兰居民将在2月24日至3月23日之间，就此议案提出自己的观点。
FUNDING OPTIONS:
- Increase general rates
- Increase targeted rates used to pay for specific projects
- Increase contributions imposed on new property developments
- Regional income tax - on top of PAYE tax and imposed on all those making a living in Auckland region
- Regional payroll tax - similar to a regional income tax but paid by employers with the cost likely to be passed onto employees
- Regional GST in addition to existing GST
- Tax increment financing - a tax on the increase in property value brought about by a project
- Increase in petrol and diesel prices in Auckland
- Charge a toll for using new roads
- Tolling existing roads - a charge for use of all roads or just those affected by congestion
- Charge more to park in Auckland
- Charge visitors more to stay at hotels or motels
- Increase airport departure tax on international flights
