Hi,
We have a 5000L irrigation water tank that purely uses town water (i.e. on rain water).
We have a one inch poly pipe feeding water into the tank, then the water in the tank feeds into a pump, then into our pop-up sprinkler system (we needed a tank and pump as our water pressure was inadequate).
The tank has a buoyancy type float in it which restricts the fill of water to a certain level.
I need to plumb the tank overflow just in case the float fails.
The overflow is 90mm, so I'm going to add a 90 to 100mm adaptor and then run a 100mm pipe from the tank to approximately 15m away (to ensure that if the float fails, the water will discharge well away from our house.

impliptim yim Intim i y i. coming back up 200mm it will even out level wise plus the water pressure from the overflow point on the tank will flip the flap valve – or just put a mozzie screen fitting over it.

It is unusual for a buoyancy float to fail. I wouldn't fit an overflow pipe.

I can't see a float valve failing open, but it is possible I suppose for them to fail closed.
I wouldn't bother with any overflow.
