本周末昆州正在打疫苗接种闪电战，全州新开放了18个接种中心。

位于黄金海岸，Logan, Springfield和 Moreton Bay的接种中心将集中给一线工人和40-49岁之间的人群接种疫苗。

Queensland's vaccine blitz underway, major delays expected

A vaccine blitz is underway in Queensland this weekend with 18 new hubs opening across the state.

Centres on the Gold Coast, Logan, Springfield and Moreton Bay will focus on vaccinating frontline workers and those aged 40 to 49.

In an Australian first - people will be able to choose whether they get the Pfizer or AstraZeneca jab however officials are warning of long wait times for those who haven't booked ahead.

Eligible Queenslanders were forced to wait up to five hours in Rocklea yesterday will three-hour delays expected again today.
In Victoria, hundreds are again queuing to get their COVID jab today with people waiting up to three hours outside Melbourne's mass vaccine centre this morning.

Ambulance Victoria staff will have priority access to vaccination centres from next Wednesday until Sunday.

It follows a five-day vaccine blitz for all aged care and disability staff in the state, which has been extended until Monday.

"We want to get to the point where this virus is not winning," Health Minister Martin Foley said.

Mr Foley said the state has had "very constructive conversations" with the Commonwealth government to increase AstraZeneca vaccine supplies.

"I think the Federal Minister committed to increasing supplies and I'm reliably informed that the first of those was due to arrive yesterday," he said.

"We have backed the AMA's call in seeking to double, particularly the AstraZeneca allocations and to bring in the Pfizer vaccine for the GP network because to us, that looks like the big area that can take a lot more capacity really quickly."

The debate over whether to mandate vaccinations for aged-care workers also continues to unfold in Federal Parliament after the issue was raised in yesterday's National Cabinet meeting.

The no jab no work policy would apply to aged care and disability care workers but ultimately it would be a decision for state and territory leaders as they are the ones with the power to issue public health orders.

All states and territories are in favour of a mandatory vaccination requirement for aged care workers, Mr Morrison has said.

The PM came out in favour of mandatory vaccinations for aged care workers at a press conference after National Cabinet yesterday.

But such a rule would need to be made and enforced by public health orders in a state level.

"All states and territories are in agreement with the principle disposition on mandatory vaccination of aged care workers," the Prime Minister said.
