We have two hybrid, a Toyota and a Lexus, or you can just say two Toyota's.
I'd warn against getting a hybrid and not driving it at least weekly: it's not good for the 12v battery (not to be mistaken with the hybrid battery). It won't be an isolated issue to hybrid, it's generally worse due the smaller 12v battery capacity in hybrid.
As Xax said, it might be better for him to go full EV.

Won't really matter if he goes hybrid or straight ICE for his use case.
But as above, if he has a garage or somewhere to plug it in, a straight EV would make more sense, longer periods of no use aren't really a problem like they can be for a ICE or hybrid.
