We've been avoid chicken manure because it increases the pH of the soil (we live in a hard water area).
Blood and Bone works wonders, covers your needs unless you specifically do not need any nitrogen at all or are manually controlling your nitrogen levels.
We still use the regular fertiliser, but want to reduce the nitrogen during the fruiting phase.
