I'm looking to get the FTTP upgrade, but I'm very confused because I've heard different things.
I was told the NBN tech would only install the NBN device on the interior wall where the current phone line enters the house (it's approximately 600mm away from my electrical switchboard)

No not tiled, it's colourbond, and ceiling access here is quite difficult unless sheets are removed (don't know if this is in scope by NBN)

The only 100% certain way to get it where you want is to get a fibre cable pathway (aka conduit with drawstring) installed prior.
You can always chance it and reject the installation, but you obviously can't just keep doing this until you get a tech that will install it how you want.
