You want that to be very temporary, most tapes, the longer it is on, the less secure the tape becomes while leaving increasingly difficult to remove residue.

Sliding sash aluminium windows are inherently leaky due to the way they work.
Internal architraves and trim should take care of most of the leaks between the window reveals and walls, but there has to be gaps between the sashes and the rest of the window frames so that they slide easily.
Any leaks around the perimeter can be sealed up simply and cheaply with some no more gaps.
