If you don't have RCD's already it is a worthwhile upgrade for safety.

Yes and yes on all counts and most probably mandatory wherever you live.
We actually upgraded as part of an air conditioner installation rather than solar but close enough.

+1 on Wattmatters post, when my powerboard upgrade at solar install was done, moving from RCD + breakers to RCBO also creates more room on DIN rail = room for future additions (HWS smart switch etc).
Suggest think ahead re will new meters be required, the smart meters are sizable, and room will be needed on the board.
