新州长周末，执行双倍扣分

本周末被抓到超速，没有系安全带或者开车时使用手机的司机，随着双倍扣分的执行将面临巨额罚款，或者有可能失去驾照。

新州警察与紧急服务厅长David Elliott今天说，劳动节长周末将有大批警察出动在公路上巡逻。

Elliott 厅长对记者说：“ 在路上犯一个或者两个错误就可能让你失去驾照。”

目前新州道路死亡人数时236个，与去年同期比下降了30人。

去年10月长周末有6人丧生。

Elliott 补充说，他希望看到旅行者安全地抵达目的地。

他说：“ 路上一个人丧生也是太多了。“

“遵守速度限制，把手机放下，遵守道路规则。”

“随着我们都在迎接温暖天气的到来， 我督促每个人都要遵守道路和海上规则。“

“我们不想看到长周末以悲剧告终—因此别拿你的性命或者他人的性命冒险，拙劣的决定将可能导致终身的影响。“

这是新州第三个双倍扣分的时期，手机侦察相机已经就位了。

本周末任何被抓到使用手机的人， 将面临扣10分并且罚款344澳元的风险。

如果司机被抓到不系安全带，将被扣6分。

如果两个乘客没有安全带，司机面临将被扣12分。

双倍扣分执行时间： 10月2日星期五凌晨12.01开始，10月5日星期一晚间11.59结束。

Motorists caught speeding, not wearing a seatbelt or using their phone while driving this weekend will face hefty fines and a potential loss of licence as double demerits kick off.

Highway patrols would be out in force across the Labour Day long weekend, said NSW Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott.

“One or two mistakes on the road could cost you your licence,” Elliott told reporters on Wednesday.
The current NSW road death toll is 236, down by 30 when compared to the same time last year.

Six people lost their lives across the October long weekend last year.

Elliott added he wanted to see travellers arrive at their destinations safely.
“One road fatality is one too many,” he said.

“Stick to the speed limit, put your phone down and observe the road rules.

“As we all start to embrace the warmer weather, I urge everyone to abide by the road and maritime rules.

“We don’t want to see a long weekend end in tragedy - so don’t risk your life, or the lives of others, over poor decision making that could have lifelong repercussions.”

Double demerits

In NSW, it will be the third double demerit point period in which mobile phone detection cameras have been enforced.

Anyone caught using their phones this weekend will risk being given 10 demerit points and a $344 fine.

If a driver is caught not wearing a seatbelt, they will face six demerit points.

If two passengers are unrestrained, the driver faces 12 demerit points.

“Operation Slowdown will see our Traffic and Highway Patrol officers targeting speeding, drink and drug driving, driving while fatigued, mobile phone, helmet and other traffic offences,” NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said.

Double demerits will be in place from 12.01am on Friday, October 2 to 11.59pm on Monday October 5.
