Incoming Goldstein MP Tim Wilson has expressed he is "open" to putting his hand up for the Liberal leadership but he had to have conversations about where he fits.
Sky News called the race for the inner Melbourne seat for the Liberals on Tuesday after a surge in postal votes saw Mr Wilson overtake independent Zoe Daniel who becomes the first teal set to lose their seat after the climate-backed party swept to power in 2022.
Ms Daniel had prematurely celebrated during the election night on Saturday where she was filmed dancing with her supporters claiming an "extraordinary victory".
Despite Sky News and ABC calling Goldstein for Mr Wilson, the teal independent on Wednesday refused to concede defeat due to the tight margin her opponent leads by.
