Nationals Senator Matt Canavan, who is challenging David Littleproud for the party’s leadership, told Sky News he was open to leaving the Coalition agreement on Monday.
“It's a business relationship between the Liberal and Nationals Party, we're not married, and like any business relationship there has to be gain for both parties,” he said.
Mr Canavan said he hoped the parties could come to an agreement but said he wouldn’t accept a “bad deal”.
As he contends party leadership, Mr Canavan has run on the platform of ending the climate target of net zero emissions by 2050, a position the Liberal Party has supported.
