I went to NAB yesterday to cash out a cheque, I was told that they must charge $5.00 per cheque for non-NAB customers. Is that charge reasonable? I'm not their customer but cheque holder is, why charge me? has anyone experice this?

As far as you don't have your saving account with them, they will charge you. I think all the banks doing the same thing.
Actually, do you know you don't need to go to the issuer's bank to do cheque saving? You can deposit into your own bank without paying any cent.
However, to withdraw the money, you have to wait for 3 days until the money is clear.

I knew that. but I want to cash out, it's only $100.00 and the cheque was cash cheque. I think all the banks are ripping off their client's money. no wander they make so much profit every minute.

Better to deposit the cheque into your bank account than cash it. Cashing cheque normally comes with a bank charge... Such is the state of our banking system...

by the book, every bank will charge non-customer a small fee when cashing a cheque, or changing coins. The reason behind it is not because bank wants to make money. By charging a small fee, bank is actually saying: please go to your own bank to do your banking. In this way, bank can serve its own customers, who pay for their accounts or credit cards, better.
but asking fee for a $100 cheque? Get real! I mean for god sake, I want to slap that mother f%$&$ing teller who served you

我也有NAB的卡，以前老是charge 3刀一个月，有时却不charge，因为没几块钱，一直没管它，现在它开始charge 4刀了。说是只要每月存2500进去，就不charge，一个月从25号开始刀31号结束，才一周，真是有点店大欺客
