What subjects to choose in order to get in medicine? IB vs VCE?

Medicine跟IB， VCE的subject无关。学IB，学VCE的都有进medicine的，都有进不了medicine的。

I thought VCE suits my kid, but was told by two different teachers during parent-teacher interview last week that he should take IB rather than VCE. We knew very little about IB, only knew that you need to do 6 subjects in year 12, involves lots of essay writing and community services, sounds like a good program for teenagers, but not sure what subjects to choose for medicine entry requirements. (Sorry for not able to type Chinese at work.)

For VCE, kids need to take Methods, Chemistry for medical school entry. (Mandatory)

To get in medicine, chemistry is a must. But not sure if Chemistry/Biology in IB has two different levels, which level is required for medical entry. Hopefully someone could share information here. As well as English, English Language or literature, any specific requirements?
Basically, knows very little about IB.
