季节性工人开始在塔州隔离

来自太平洋国家的第一批大约1500 名季节工人降落在塔州。 根据与维州的协议，让 这些工人到维州的农场上工作。

Seasonal workers begin quarantine in Tasmania
The first of about 1,500 seasonal workers from Pacific nations touched down in Tasmania overnight, as part of a deal with Victoria to get the workers on to farms in that state.

Under the deal announced in January, Tasmania will quarantine more than 100 workers for two weeks before they are allowed onto Victorian farms.

"The arrival of these workers has been made possible through a strong collaboration between Victoria and Tasmania and is a great example of what can be achieved when states work together," Victorian Agriculture Minister Mary-Anne Thomas said in a statement.

"Bringing these workers into Victoria under the Pacific Mobility Schemes will ease some pressure for farmers – but it's not a silver bullet. We need to keep working to encourage locals into these jobs – something that the federal government should play an active role in."

As part of the deal, Victoria was supposed to shoulder Tasmania's 330-person-per-week commitment to take returning Australians.

A COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria spokesperson said: “The program will support the repatriation of around 320 Australians in the next month, as part of the seasonal worker arrangements between Victoria and Tasmania.”
