新州搬家工人在有传染性期间去过维州和南澳。

当局说一名来自大悉尼地区的搬家工人在有传染性期间去了南澳和维州。

维州卫生厅长Martin Foley说这名搬家工人周日在新州测试阳性，预计在维州会有暴露地点。

这名搬家工人7月8日在维州过夜，随后驾车跨州进入南澳，然后返回新州。

“此人是个搬家工人，作为工作的一部分他到访了维州的家庭，”他说。

“我们预计将会有暴露地点，以及将有人需要隔离。”

A COVID case from NSW was infectious in Victoria, SA earlier this month
The Victorian government says a positive case in Sydney travelled to Victoria and South Australia while infectious on July 8 and 9.

The person is a removalist and was working during the trip. They stayed overnight in Victoria on July 8 and travelled to SA on July 9 before returning to NSW.

The Victorian government expects a number of exposure sites but was only informed by NSW officials late last night.

Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley says he's expecting that people will be required to quarantine as a result of this incident.

“We will be putting our full public health response around those matters right now,” he said.

Mr Foley also said it's understood the person was travelling for work, but that Victorian authorities will examine their permit to be in the state.

Victorian health minister Martin Foley says based on the information they have so far, the infectious removalist crossed the land border from Sydney, then they believe he came down the Hume and did some work in Melbourne.

He then continued on to SA, returned to Sydney, and showed symptoms.

He got tested on Saturday and got a positive result on Sunday.

When asked why the man was allowed to come into Victoria, Mr Foley said there are valid permitted reasons to come into the state, including for removalists, but authorities are still waiting on more details from NSW.

“We’re just establishing if this was the case with this gentleman, there’s every prospect that it was,” he said.

“But we do understand there will be families that will likely have been exposed. We’re talking to them. We do understand there will be a number of exposure sites in NSW and Victoria."

He confirmed the removalist went to a number of homes and a number of families would be affected, but details about exactly which suburbs have been affected aren't available yet.

Victoria’s Health Minister Martin Foley was asked if the case involving the removalist would change things for Victorians, such as restrictions. He says it’s too early to tell.

“We will get all the evidence, the list of exposure sites, we’ll talk to the people who will  have to quarantine and then we will talk to their contacts and their contacts,” he says.

“And we could expect to see, as with other incursions, many, many,  hundreds of people and a range  of sites to be contacted by our contact tracing team in the very near future and they having to take protective measures to quarantine.”

Mr Foley was also asked why the ACT was included in the red zone designation along with NSW.

He said the territory did not have a sophisticated permit system like Victoria and other states and was essentially surrounded by regional NSW leaving it vulnerable to a lot of movement in and out of NSW.

With the ACT just two hours out of Sydney, particularly the southern suburbs where there are a number of cases and arrangements at the airport led public health officials to treat the ACT as the same as regional NSW.

Households exposed to removalists currently in isolation
Jeroen Weimar is speaking now.

He's providing an update on "two separate incursions of COVID from NSW" — one of which involved the removalist from Sydney who stayed overnight.

Mr Weimar says the incident involved a group of three removalist workers — one had already tested positive, but he says another "may have turned positive as well".

In terms of potential exposure, a family in Whittlesea are currently isolating in quarantine. They returned a negative test on July 9, and will be tested again today.

A second household has been also identified, and they are also being tested "as we speak".

Mr Weimar says two people in isolation have tested positive to COVID-19.

The family of four from the City of Hume returned to Victoria from Sydney on a red-zone permit (three members of the household returned by air on July 4, while the fourth returned by car on July 8).

They all tested negative initially, but two members of the family became symptomatic and were tested yesterday.

"We received those results late morning today, they are both positive, the other two members of the family are being tested again today.

"We are now in the middle of conversations and discussions with the family around any other movements they may or may not have made. And how we can support them for the rest of their isolation period."

Mr Weimar says those travelling on a red-zone permit should assume they have the virus.
