墨尔本大学University of Melbourne到底是怎样一种存在？

墨尔本大学是一所位于澳大利亚墨尔本的公立研究型大学。成立于1853年，是澳洲第2古老的大学，其主校区位于墨尔本中央商务区北部的内郊帕克维尔（Parkville），其他几个校区分布在维州各地。
墨尔本大学由维州殖民地注册成立，是澳洲6所砂岩大学之一，是澳洲八大、21世纪大学、华盛顿大学麦克唐纳国际学者学院和环太平洋大学协会的成员。
自1872年以来，各种住宿学院成为该校的附属机构，为师生提供住宿，并提供学术、体育和文化项目。

No.2 墨尔本大学本科录取
墨大预科：不打算参加高考的同学可以通过Trinity College(三一学院) Foundation Program进入墨大本科。
录取要求：完成高二，最好五门成绩均分超过80%，雅思5.5，单项不低于5，或同等水平。
本科直录：墨大不接受中国高考直接申请，本科直录需要完成至少一年以上的大学本科方可申请。录取标准：
专业方面选择较少，常见的工程、法律、教育、建筑等专业均不开设本科课程；
国内大一后转学无法免课。墨大看高中qualification来决定是否免课，高中qualification需要是在墨大能直录名单里；
英文要求：雅思6.5，单项不低于6或同等水平的托福/PTE；未达标的同学可以通过语言直升班UMELBP入读。
