then I say, " I donot have right to open"
my workmate is laughing... and repeat the word ' right"
Then I change to "authorize..."
She looks more comfortable with "authorize"
what's the difference?

authority工作中常用 平常同事说话就说个can't access就好了，要不就说没有permission

用right的确比较奇怪，权限是一个比较中性的描述，意思就是你没有那个access，可是right感觉就不一样了，你同事听了可能感觉你被剥夺了权力似的。

取决于你想表达什么，怎么表达。我可以想到一下几种：
1. you do not have the permission to ...
2. you are not authorised to ...
3. you do not have the privilege to ...

电脑里的提示经常出现: You do not have rights to open this folder, please contact administrator.. blah.. blah...
所以rights肯定是没错的, 但是需要注意, 一般是plural rights, 不是right.
