怎样记忆 英文地名？
大家有没有关于记忆英文地名的方法， or 历史典故？欢迎来contribute。 我先来开个头。
-ford，津。 比如 Oxford 牛津。 melbourne 有 seaford， Rutherford 等。美国福特车也是 Ford。用的是一语双关，因为 Ford还有爬山涉水的意思。

必须硬记。地名和人名其实一样，人名即地名，地名即人名。
能那样拆分组合的比例不大，费那劲不值得。

就像日本人姓松下、田中、山口、高桥、小泉、饭岛、苍井之类的....

进一歩浓缩。 -bourne, -burg,- berg,- bury, -borough 都是堡的意是。 ton, don, = town. 屯
-ham = farm、home。 -Ville，-wick 村（village）-mond， -mont， Mt 山 Glen --》green
leigh， ley 里，- grave = - grove。 MULGRAVE 不是黑墓而是： 美林。

8个里面4个是village的意思。

wich类似于wick吧。
值得一提的是w是不发音的，它被翻译成格林威治不太对。刚来的时候berwick我也读成啵喂客，实际是白蕊壳。
packnham里的h也不发音。
