On the housing market, PropTrack senior economist Eleanor Creagh said the latest rate hike, the fifth in a row, represented the fastest rise to the cash rate since 1994, with home prices falling across the country and now 2.7 per cent below their March peak.
“The level of interest rates will be a key factor of housing market conditions and the pace and depth of home price falls in the period ahead,” she said.
“The good news for buyers is this spring is set to be much less competitive than last.
“There’s a lot more choice and less urgency, which could create opportunity for some.
“For sellers, though prices are dropping and properties are taking longer to sell, prices are still up on pre-pandemic levels and selling quicker than before the pandemic onset.”

现在要关注美国那边的失业率，失业率显著上升的话，美联储就会停止加息甚至被迫降息了，即使通胀仍很高。
