My daughter is in *** high school. This year she is kicked out from maths class 2 to class 5 due to poor performance.( according to the math head teacher). In fact, she is doing well in math. Another classmate who has the same first name of my daughter, still remains in class 2, her math performance is very poor. So it is very clear the math head teacher made a mistake when assigning students due to same first names.
My daughter went to see the head teacher and asked the reason why she is kicked out. The head teacher replied to her" go away". I went to the school the other day to meet him. His explanation was my daughter is one of the bottom five students of class 2 according to average math exam results. At that time, I thought she might not performed well in small tests. But when I went home, she showed me all tests results, almost all over 90. So we both thought they had made a mistake. Today my daughter went to see her previous math teacher and would like him to investigate. Surprisingly, her math teacher asked her to stay in class 5 and refused to check the details for her.
I tried to make an appointment with him, he also refused to see me.
I am shocked by the unfair treatment to students. My daughter is very upset and now thinking of transferring to another school.
I just could not figure out why they treat students like this. I don't know if I should go ahead to make further investigation and escalate to higher level or just move on and ask my daughter work hard by herself.
Anyone can give me some suggestion?
Final result:
I got a reply from the head teacher this Monday. He said after reviewing the ranking and results, he found several students' ranking were affected due to data corruption. My daughter is one of them. He apologize for it and will re-issue time table next day. Today, my daughter is back to class 2.
I have deleted the school's name to keep some privacy for them since the issue has been fixed. thanks all for your suggestions, support and feedback.

They have six math classes, ranking from class one to class 6. Class 1 is accelerated class, class 2 is extended class. The teaching materials are different in different classes. All the stuff taught in class 5, my daughter has learned in class 2. Now her math teacher in class 5 asked her to learn something ahead by herself, if my daughter is bored by the things he is teaching. If she needs learn by herself, what is point to go to school???

一般学校老师不会这莫无礼的，你要事先通过电话或email预约一下，不要直接冲去兴师问罪，他们应该会秉公处理的。
如果他们真的不承认自己弄错，就让女儿用成绩说话，下个学期就会升回好班了。

每年都要按当年的数次考试，重新分班的，简直跟新加坡的做法一模一样，只不过新加坡从小学就这样 好在这里只是数学分班，别的似乎不分。

降低压力的最好办法就是降低要求，嘿嘿嘿

写email给这个老师，如果他继续不理你，你再去找校长，这样可能比较好一些。另外，在email里面附上你女儿的成绩，然后对bottom 5表示质疑。

即使父母降低要求，但孩子也会很HURT的，中学的孩子已经懂事了，象LZ的女儿那样，心里觉得很委屈的，所以最好是不分了。呵呵。。

I decide to write an email to the math head teacher and copy to her previous math teacher. Just point out he might have mixed up two students with the same first names. As my daughter's average math mark is 90.11, I would like him to check the other student's mark and make sure it is not a mistake.
My daughter is very depressed so far.
I don't t expect any change, but I have to try my best.

I wrote a very polite email to the maths head teacher and copy it to deputy of principal. I appreciate him spending time see me and pointed out if it is possible the two students with same first name mixed up due to computer glitches. Not sure if it will make any difference in the end. But at least, I have tried my best to help my daughter.
I told her not to expect much changes anyway. Also told her life is always unfair. She needs work hard. If she is in the top 5, the chance to be mixed up might be limited.
Anyway, I will update the info if there is any progress.

说实话，就这么点math，又同一selective学校，仅不同班而已，不会对人生未来产生任何影响，而且这分班是年年搞的。成绩好，下一次不就又分回去了吗。
从你的口气中，这事在你们似乎是天大的事情，好像人生就系于此。这样看待，反而成不小的问题，尤其对于你女儿。
我儿子才刚小学6年级，被冤枉，被忽略，甚至被无辜惩罚的多得是。我总尽力引导告诉他，世界上不公平的事情太多了。学校里轮上倒霉事情时，总设法教他自己去解决。他果然从中成长起来，学校里基本全是自己处理，甚至自己会去找副校长谈。
你女儿都中学了，遇上被分错班，还要你带着去冲办公室。被轰出来，就觉得这天下如何能这样不公平，甚至考虑转校。这教给你女儿的人生态度不但错误，而且危险。
建议设想一下自己如果不是中国人，会如何处理这事情。这种事情，处理好了，对于女儿一生都是难得的学习机遇，学会一种态度和处理问题能力，提升自信心。Math是不教自信心和处理人与人之间关系的能力。

I agree that it is not a big issue. Initially my daughter went to see the head teacher and tried to ask why she was moved down to class 5. But the head teacher told her to go away. Then she asked me to go to see him. Today my daughter went to see her previous maths teacher to get her score and also tried to get an explanation from the maths head teacher. But he ignored her again. I think my daughter is brave enough and tried her best to solve her problem.
If she is not doing well in her maths, I won't say anything about being moved down. She is doing well but still being moved out due to human mistakes.
I don't think you have read my posts carefully. But I appreciate you spent time to write a response, though I don't agree with some of your points.
