I think you can argue that by connecting the HDTV to the laptop to do some kinda of programs can save your eyesight, and make those secret codes readable, which means proportionally it can be claimed but not in full for purpose of self education or something whatsoever ... overall, it does not have much tax benefit if you pro-rata the cost and you will bear the final consequence if ATO found the argument is invalid. it is up to you to decide
