NSW Premier Chris Minns is facing growing calls from hospitality operators to intervene and overturn Clover Moore’s City of Sydney council’s controversial ban on gas appliances.
The City of Sydney council under the mayorship of Clover Moore unanimously voted in favour of a motion forbidding the use of indoor gas appliances and gas connections in all new dwellings on Monday night.
The move will see gas appliances barred in new residential developments from December 31, with the council settings its sights to connect office buildings, hotels and serviced apartments to the electricity grid in the coming years.
However, it was revealed that the motion also forces new mixed-use food and beverage developments in the Sydney CBD to use a single gas connection from December 31
